Default Crossover fuel line???

Hey Guys quick question. I fabbed up a 1.5" tank lift for my 2011 blackline and need to use a longer crossover fuel line. The hose thats on it is SAE 30R12 which is "Low Permeation Fuel Feed and Return Hose". I was wondering if i need to use this same hose or can I use SAE 30R7 "Low Pressure Fuel Hose". There wouldn't be any pressure in this line would there? I'm asking because I have some of the SAE 30R7 laying around.

There is no pressure on that line. Use what you've got. It's only to equalize the fuel level on both sides.

Grab one of those "no-spill disconnect kit", while you're in there.
Will make things easier next time you need to remove your tank

Thanks guys thats what I thought, but I just wanted to be sure. Too bad the link for the quick connect no longer works. Looks like a pretty sweet product!

I did read a little about the SAE stds for the hoses and the long story short the SAE30R7 is an older standard for low pressure fuel lines and is no longer recommended for OEM replacement because of the changing fuel blends and it's service life maybe reduced because of the different additives. http://www.gates.com/common/download...chTipsForm.pdf

Though that particular reference is a bit dated, it seemed to get to the point as well as anything I found. All that said, I wouldn't blink before using the SAE30R7 hose you had laying around in the application you describe.

I just did mine 2 weeks ago. Siphon out as much gas as possible, lean the bike to the right and siphon out more. Then comes the fun part. You will hate the crossover hose! Good luck.

Mine with a 2 1/2" lift.

Hey guys, here is a link to the quick disconnect couplings we use when installing our tank lifts on customer's bikes. I use one on mine also and it works great! Easy to install and no leaks. A very nice product. We don't sell them ourselves and have no affiliation with them, but here's a link to their website:

For Softails, you would want to go with the 5/16 barbed coupling. Just make sure to get the one with the viton seal that is safe to use with fuel. It's worth an extra few bucks to use one of these because if you ever have to remove the crossover line again, you'll be happy you had it. Hope this helps.

Firezapper, your Blackline looks great with the tank lift, by the way. Nice job!

worst design ever, as nice as quick disconnect from back of tank is, having to cut up crossover is a joke. I dont care if Mcgivre was removing tank, his garage floor would be soaked
