Free Dyno?

Free Dyno?
A dealer near me is offering free dyno runs. I always thought dynos cost a pretty penny.
I'm going to do it, because I've been thinking about it for a while, and most people here in the forum say it does wonders for their ride.
Anything I should be looking for?
I'm sure it's a lure, but what the hell, it's free and a good excuse to ride.

Yeah.. that. At rally's like Daytona, Wildwood, Myrtle Beach, etc people bring their mobile dyno units and let guys put their bikes on them for a run, then will give you recommendations on tuning and such, but won't actually do the tunes.

I'd say skip it unless you need it for a couple reasons - first, dynos can cause excessive wear to your tires at an alarming rate and in an un-natural fashion (a flat center strip where the wheels meet the rollers). Even tire manufacturers recommend against it - see section 10 at this link. Second, subjecting your engine to the range of rpms that a dyno needs to see there is always a chance that a dumb dyno operator could blow your engine - especially if it has any issues you don't know about like a bad cam tensioner thats about to go. I'm not saying dyno testing is the worst thing in the world but why chance it if you don't need to? I guess the litmus test for me would be asking the operator who pays if something goes wrong.
