Default 2012 FLSTC front axle

My dad has a 12 FLSTC. Went to a swap meet and picked up a set of chrome fork lowers for a good price. I installed them today and when i tried to get it back together, the front axle is too big. After some research i found these were for an 04-05 FLSTC. Guy said they fit 2000 and up.. Guess he was wrong. What are my options? New front axle? New front axle and wheel? Or just sell them and get the right ones?

Thanks

If it were me I would just get the correct ones. WHy would you want to start swapping axles and wheels because it's the wrong part?

Because there could be an axle out there that would allow it to work that I am unaware of. This is why I asked here, before I just assume I cannot use them. I like to explore all options before giving up.

Gotcha.... my guess if you go the Axle change then you will need to change the bearings currently in the wheel you have. I'm sure it's been done, I just like to keep things simple..

Also, I think after 2006 Harley made a change to the Axle size on the Softails... I think 3/4" to 1"

Your logic is illogical.

You received the wrong fork lowers. So instead of just getting the correct ones that will work with your existing axle and wheel, you want to change even more parts for ones that will fit the wrong part ???

Your going to have to spend money one way or another. Either purchasing the correct lowers or a new axle, wheel and possibly other parts.

You're opening a can of worms. Just get the correct part.

Hey Mike they actually went to a 25mm in 2008. I'm with Mike on getting the correct ones. I pick mine up on ebay for 178.00 no exchange. You shouldn't have much trouble selling those and getting your money back. Either way good luck!

Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure which year they changed but the point was that you have to watch parts that say 2000 and up since they may have come before Harley made changes after a certain year...

You can just send the ones you removed off to get chromed since the bike is apart right now anyways. That way you know they will fit.

You are an idiot. you don't understand exploring all options before giving up? I got a set of chrome lowers at a 1/4 of the price of new ones. So even if I somehow found a front axle that would work, it would be cheaper than buying it new chrome lower fork kit from the dealer for my bike. I don't need to explain my actions or my logic to you. I just asked if there was a easy way to make it work.
