I don't know.. that's like saying you like the looks of a windshield on your bike. If you're already running bags and a windshield, though, might as well go fangs.

Default Installing the new HD lowers (Fangs) on a '13 Fatboy.

[quote=SBRob;11391230]Bringin' this thread back to life...I ordered the new style "fangs", part #57400143, and it feels like it made the buffeting worse? I really didn't have an issue with wind buffeting prior to the install, but after reading the posts I figured I'd use a $200.00 gift card my g/f gave me for my birthday last August. It was burning a hole in my pocket...lol.

I was ridin' at 70-75 mph today with a headwind at about 15 mph and the bike had some bad buffeting with the fangs on...I'm just curious, anyone else have bad results with this product or is it just me?

I'm thinkin' about taking them off the bike...I don't mind the looks of 'em, but I'm not happy with the results.

I bought a set of the new ones for my '13 Fatboy with the quick release windshield. When beginning the installation, I noticed the top mounting bolt on the quick release windshield was not one that would allow the installation, as per the HD written directions. May I ask what type hardware your used to mount your set?

I used the existing hardware that was on the bike...maybe the OEM bolts for the Heritage are different than what you used for your Fatboy?

Thank you for the reply. I believe it's because of the unique top mounting bolt for the HD quick release windshield. I'll keep looking.

How much air to they deflect from the engine? We do ride a motorcycle with an air cooled engine.

I DID notice more engine heat on my legs with the deflectors installed...not a good thing for summer riding in SE Texas.

Another low-cost and very simple option you might want to consider is putting soft lowers on your crash bars. I've had Desert Dawgs on four different bikes over the years and won't go without 'em now. Easily removable too, so if you're riding in hot weather and want more air, you just put them in your saddlebag. http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/harl...n-rain-guards/

UPDATE. Been riding a few weeks now with the HD lowers and man they do make a difference. If you're looking to reduce all that wind buffeting around your chest and head they work. Also reduced the wind when kicking the feet out on hiway pegs. I don't notice any uncomfortable heat increase either and we're in the 90's around here right now. The air still flows around the lowers and onto the engine plus I ride w/ a Capt. Itch heat shield anyway so no prob. If you're looking for a solution it worked for me. Don't mind the looks either but that's a personal thing.
