Default Raising the Height on a Deluxe.

A riding brother with a Deluxe wanted to raise the rear height of his bike. As an experiment we mounted a spare set of Fatboy shocks on his bike. The Fatboy shocks measured 3/8th of an inch shorted than the stock Deluxe shocks. Because of the travel arc of the swing arm, the 3/8th inch shorter Fatboy shocks equated to about an inch gain in height.

Cool beans. Did it affect the jiffy stand much? Just wondering if it would need adjusting after raising the bike height. Thanks.

Interesting, does I affect the ride much - if at all?

I have to be honest, thats the first time I ever heard of anyone raising a Deluxe rather than lowering one! I am not 100% sure but I think the Shotgun can raise one 2"'s over stock. I almost feel bad recommending the Shotgun be used for that!

Yes, FB shocks raise the bike 1" at the rear. With more shock travel you do get a smoother ride. Better for 2up for sure. I have the deluxe lowering shocks on my FB - more road feel, and it just looks cooooler. lol

Commenting on reply's.

I also had never heard of anyone wanting to raise the rear of their bike above factory stock height. It was an unusual request and I had to put a lot of thought into it. Center of gravity, affect on front suspension.

In my opinion, the added suspension travel provided for a more comfortable ride. The increase in frame height has made the owner happy. He can now go over speed bumps and doesn't scrape metal in the turns. Kick stand length did not require adjusting.
