So I read somewhere you could put a 2000+ swing arm on a pre 2000 softail. (Mines a 97 flstf) and that you could then use up to a 200 rear tire. Anyone know the details for this swap? What else has to be changed? These swing arms can be had for pretty cheap.

I just bought a new Shotgun from JD, will the same unit fit a 2000+ swingarm?

Well the swingarm alone is not gonna work. u will need a new sprocket and belt also a new fender

 

you can pick up oem parts for cheap. you will have to cut your frame struts and go with bolt on struts so at that time it would be a good idea to pick out a cool fender.

 

I saw a guy on youtube put a 200mm tire on a Slim and there is a guy on this forum that did the opposite on a Crossbones with out swaping the swingarm and just moving the wheel spacers around. Not sure about older Softails.
