Default 2013 Heritage

I'm from the touring forum & am considering trading in my 05 FLHRI for a new Heritage. Those of u that have the newer models, is it worth the xtra $ for ABS & security. The only I'm thing definite on is smooth wheel option w/ww tires.Thanx

I ordered my Deluxe with ABS. I am glad to have it and the security system is nice. I believe in a couple years all bikes sold in the US will be mandated to have ABS as it is in Europe. It works on your car and I believe it will help in certain situations.

Watch this video from HD and decide for yourself if you think you need it.

Thanx kneesinthebreeze, very informative, having laid a bike down in a downpour before I think I'll opt for the ABS.

My Heritage came with ABS and security package...I've never had ABS on any of my previous bikes and never felt the need to have it, but it seems to work well and I've never had the rear wheel(or front) lock up making a hard stop...I'm happy with it.

I also bought a 2013 Heritage and I insisted on the ABS option. Most of the bikes don't have it so the dealer had to do a dealer swap. I have never had to use the ABS but I feel more secure having it.

I've locked the rear several times and the front once... Just last week I locked them and went on a slide down an offramp. I kept it up (thankfully)... Probably just oil and wetness on the road.

A lot of pucker in those events.

Just traded a 2011 RKC for a 2013 Heritage Softail. It has neither, but I added the security. I had ABS on the RKC and it was good to have, but I didn't let that stop me from buying this motorcycle. I had a 2008 Deluxe without ABS so I've had both. Maybe one day I'll find myself in a scenario that will change my mind and want ABS but for now I'm good either way.

I also have a 2013 softail heritage and I am coming off a ultra limited. I ordered mine with wheel option, ABS and security, and color option. It is the bike you see in my sig. I personally would not buy a bike with out ABS if it were an option. Can't wait to see pics and good luck

Can't hurt to have it.
Get the ABS/Security package, It will lower your insurance a little bit.
