Well guys, its all done. Turned out pretty nice. I ran into a few things that I thought I'd share.
1) The dealerships book that gives the required materials for the bar swap, does not say anything about a longer brake cable. Nor anything about a new riser. I thought that was weird but listened to them anyways. Bad Idea. I had to go there half way through the swap and get them to give me a cable they had in stock, luckily.

2) The turn signal controls from each side of the bar are wired into one connector. So you either have to take the connector apart or cut the wires to get them out of the bars.

3) The softail stock risers are wider then the traditional harley riser. With some bars it is okay. But not for all. The riser turns out being about a 1/16" too wide on both sides for my Chubby 1 Outlawz. So you can either grind down the riser (dont recommend with the chrome), or get a new riser. I bitched enough at the dealership that they gave me one for basically nothing.

Other than those things it went on pretty easy. Glad I did it myself though. Dealer quoted 8-10 hrs of labor. It took me and one other guy around 6-7 hrs.

Does anyone know if you'll need to extend the harness and get longer cables for 10" apes on a softail slim?

 

What length cables did you install?

 

I have a 13 softail slim also and was thinking of getting the 12" outlaws. How do they look and feel for you? Also how long did you go on your cable/wire extension? Thanks!
