The very first photo Jam posted shows the cover perfectly..... black piece of tin that covers the top of your handlebar risers (matches the same finish as the nacelle). It only works if you're using your stock bars and the riser kit. If you go to larger diameter bars the opening needs to be made bigger on the cover.... I used a dremel. If you go to larger risers.... the cover is useless and it won't work.

Okay. So I want to use that top cover. In that case I don't need the additional riser kit, correct?

I had to buy the riser kit for my application (2014 Fatboy Lo) but I just checked the 2017 parts catalog and there is no mention of the nacelle working on the FLS or wether it requires the riser kit or not. I think I would take a rip into the dealer and talk to the boys at the parts counter.... at least they can give you a refund if they lead you in the wrong direction.

IMO I think you need the following;

Nacelle Kit - 61300420 (chrome) or 61300421 (gloss black)

I don't know what diameter your bars are but you also need one of these riser kits (depending on the diameter of your bars)

46809-09 Riser kit for 1" bars

or

56789-05 Riser kit for 1.25" bars

These Riser Kits are what allow that black cover to go over top of the risers (as seen in the first pic posted).

One minor issue with the nacelle kit that hasn't been mentioned, at least when fitted to to a deluxe (flstn). Although the FLStN was not mentioned as a direct fit, everything bolted up fine. The issue probably has to do with fork rake. I have to adjust the headlight as high as it will go to get it aimed correctly. Otherwise, everything was fine. A little modification was also needed so the driving lights would bolt up.

sorry to revive a semi old thread but the info you guys said previously is really confusing. i have a few questions that need to be clearly answered.

Why Do you Need new Risers for the Nacelle to fit?

What if you dont need the top cover.. can you use your old risers?

Are the softail slim oem risers too low for the Nacelle to fit?

Are the risers for the Nacelle taller than the softail slim risers? whats the difference?

Thanks for any info

Got it.. so i dont really need new risers to make the nacelle fit if i dont want to use the riser cover. That was the question. I may go with different bars and risers in the future so i might as well get the whole nacelle kit
