Throttle Mate Lock

RE: Throttle Mate Lock
Its simple really, when you get up to a speed you like you just push forward with your thumb on the lever. That tightens upthe throttlesfriction lock andholds the throttle where it is. It doesn't do any more than that, so if you start going down hill or up hill the bike will start going slower or faster just the same as if you didn't move the grip.
A true cruise, or speed control would automaticly increase or decrease the engines throttle to compensate for changing load conditions, these don't.
The original star wheel will and does do the same thing, but its tough to use easily, and a real PITA to disengage if your in a hurry. Especially when your wearing heavy gloves. The levers just make it much easier to use, they don't actually change anything.

RE: Throttle Mate Lock
Has anybody used the cruise buddy. Kinda high in price, but seems to replace the OEM thumb screw and it only needs a 1/4 turn.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Throttle Mate Lock
I've used the thumbscrew throttle locking method and a Throttle Rocker paddle that attaches to the end of the throttle with a velcro strap. I MUCH prefer the paddle. My wrist rests on it, and I can let go of the grip and flex my fingers, and it's MUCH easier to maintain a steady speed on hilly roads.
Cheers!
