Default need sideways pegs for slim

does anyone make a passenger peg mount for the slim, or softail, where the right side peg can be folded back instead of up. we are keeping the stock exhaust on the bike and want to fold a round right side peg in between the pipes. the left side will still need to fold upright.

also, silly question, do i need to remove any part of the exhaust to add the peg mounts? i already have it off, but may want to put it back on before we figure this out, but won't if i have to take it apart again.

thx - tin

maybe im missing something here, but cant you just rotate the right mount 90*, making it fold back? if you remove the clevis bolt holding the peg to the mount, there is an allen bolt holding the mount to the frame. loosen a bit, rotate, and re-install the peg....steve

If the Slim's passenger peg mount is like normal Softail mounts, loosening the mount and rotating it to fold in sideways instead of up is all that is needed.
Be sure to use blue loctite on the bolt.

The pipes won't need to be removed unless you have huge hands like baseball gloves. Having them on will allow getting the peg aligned perfectly centered when folded.

The biggest challenge getting the pegs on will be getting the plastic plugs out of the holes where they go.

Found a good way to do this that won't damage your frame even if you try. Helps if you happen to play guitar. But you can sub the guitar pick for anything flat and plastic that is relatively strong. And the guitar string with wound wire.

Use a few guitar picks to separate plug from frame a hair, then a guitar string that is wound (I used a D) to wrap around the slightly exposed shaft of the plug. You can get like three wraps around it no problem. Then take the loose ends of the guitar string in the nose of a regular pair of pliers, and pull. Make sure you hold the bike when you do this cuz you do have to give a good yank your direction.

Should come right out. But..

If the plastic top of a plug comes off, but not the plug itself, you'll see that the shaft trapped inside the frame hole has a open hex, or X, shape to it. Use the guitar string to thread into one opening in the hex facing you, then thread from the backside into the opposite opening of the hex.

The ends of the guitar string will once again be pointing toward you, use the nose of pliers again and pull. (Again hold the bike).

Remaining plastic plug will come right out.
