IMO they look better on, of course I also think wrapped pipes look cheap.

Your bike, you do what you want. Why not take them off and see how it looks for you? I took mine off for a little while, then replaced the top one when I made a swingarm bag mount.. the two bolt together with a coupler nut. didn't replace the bottom one. There's also aftermarket options for shorter belt guards they may be of interest to you

I removed mine from day one rather see the belt take mine everywhere since i work as a iron worker never know no problem

I took mine off, and in NY I haven't had a problem with inspections. Plus it does give you 10hp, cures hangovers and can get the occasional set of panties to moisten up

I left the top one on, just removed the lower one. No regrets after 30K!

Removed bottom, left the top one on because I ride 2up sometimes.
