Default Popping sound on deceleration

Hey guys. I recently put some V&H Straight Shot HS slip ons on my Deluxe. I've noticed a popping sound on deceleration. It doesn't do it at idle or when I'm on the throttle - only when I release to slow down. It's still riding smoothly and haven't had any problems. Have you guys experienced the same? Is it normal?

Th popping sound you hear is unburned gas detonating in your pipes. Unless you are able to tune it out you'll have to learn to live with it.

As long as it's not something bad for my bike, I'm fine with it. The sound doesn't bother me.

Just check your pipes and make sure you don't have any exhaust leaks as sometimes that contributes to the popping.

My fatboy did that too as soon as I put new pipes on it. It won't hurt the bike. If it doesn't bother you it's all good!

That's your bike running to lean and it can be bad for it over time. You'd need a remap to solve it

Did you torque the pipes on to spec & use some HT silicone sealant on the pipe/header joints?

The bike is running fine. Pooping on decel is normal, and it did it with the stock pipes too, you just didn't hear it, *** the new pipes are louder. It won't hurt anything. Even if you tune to get rid of it, you'll want to keep a little pop to make sure you're running a tad rich. Popping DOES NOT mean you're running lean, it means you're a little rich. It's just unburned gasses in the exhaust that build up and ignite.

Yeah, I get that too. Doesn't hurt the bike and I figure it just goes along with that loud beefy sound of the Big Shots.

My 99 Softail Custom had popping in it when I went to drag pipes and K&N air cleaner. I went with bigger jets and that stopped it. So I would say if it is popping it is to lean. To much air and not enough gas.
