Are you changing out the cams? Give us an idea of what you're trying to accomplish.

i am not changing cams , someone told me that there is a build up of metal shavings around cam bearing or cam shoes ( not sure). this is supposed to be done around 30,000 miles on a TC88B motor. i have 52k on mine and was just wondering what exactly what needs to be done. if nobody can help i am going to call the dealership and inquire about(them ripping me off and doing a crap job) the details
thanks

Check your cam chain tensioners. That is what you need to do and proceed from there.

If the cam chain tensioners have not been replaced/upgraded, you should pop off the cover and take a look at them. What year bike are we talking about? The front tensioner is right there when you take off the cover, the back one you'll need a flashlight and small mirror to get a good look at. Just have to take off the front exhaust pipe to get at the screws for the cover. If you don't have a manual, I suggest you get one.

The tensioners. Get a gasket. You won't lose hardly any oil. Just enough to make a mess. Just saw picks in another thread that showed minimal wear at 41,000. But your results may vary. If the bike has been well cared for, there may be nothing to be done. On the other hand....

Here is a link to the other thread I was talking about. Good info in it.

But, yes, there are upgraded tensioners and cam plates available. You could just replace your existing tensioners with stock replacements or upgrade to the later hydraulic system as I did last spring. Lots to investigate.
