Great looking bikes. My 01 standard is lowered a bit. I would love to get a wide tire in there.. Currently is a 160.

Lowered my '08 Train with just bolts. Looks great, rides great, just have to watch out for the big bumps that will throw you up off your seat.

Default lowering kit

i have lowered a heritage softtail, and the kit was from 50s boys products , dont worry about the ride if you ride solo, but if with a passenger you could bottom out, a good way to keep fat chicks off your bike

Lowered mine with the bolts. Only notice it when I hit a bump, especially a sharp edged one. Probably need to dial up my preload.

Thanks everybody that contributed. I think I'm sold on lowering my bike. Any thoughts on the progressive lowering kit?

Had the bolt, then the 422 here is the deal.
1 - going down 1" with bolt is OK for comfort as long as you have a comfy seat (not barebones ) and you are light (I am under 180 ).
2 - Going lower with 422's is awesome for comfort.
3 - If you are aggressive on corners , the bolts could jolt you quick if you hit a pump on the corner, the 422's will settle down a lot better, if you rode dirt and comfortable with rear wheel jump and slide it is OK, otherwise 422 is better or just do not ride corners aggressively.
4 - There is always air rides, but for many of us the cost is prohibitive, I got the 422 from the forum for under 300$ installed. the Air will be 4 times as much.

I have used lowering bolts on my standard for 5 or 6 years. It is dropped all the way riding the bumpers. It's rough Yes but it looks good that way. I got a shotgun that I'm gonna put on this week. Everyone raves about em so I'm sure I will love it. I got it to make it more comfortable 2 up riding. I like having my wife out back on the bike. And previously I would be lucky to get 100 miles a day with her and thats with a few stops. We will see what Shogun does this summer.
