Had the bolt, then the 422 here is the deal.
1 - going down 1" with bolt is OK for comfort as long as you have a comfy seat (not barebones ) and you are light (I am under 180 ).
2 - Going lower with 422's is awesome for comfort.
3 - If you are aggressive on corners , the bolts could jolt you quick if you hit a pump on the corner, the 422's will settle down a lot better, if you rode dirt and comfortable with rear wheel jump and slide it is OK, otherwise 422 is better or just do not ride corners aggressively.
4 - There is always air rides, but for many of us the cost is prohibitive, I got the 422 from the forum for under 300$ installed. the Air will be 4 times as much.

I have used lowering bolts on my standard for 5 or 6 years. It is dropped all the way riding the bumpers. It's rough Yes but it looks good that way. I got a shotgun that I'm gonna put on this week. Everyone raves about em so I'm sure I will love it. I got it to make it more comfortable 2 up riding. I like having my wife out back on the bike. And previously I would be lucky to get 100 miles a day with her and thats with a few stops. We will see what Shogun does this summer.
