Default Need Some Help Please Read Weird Gas Cap On New Bike

I need some help bad. I bought a sporty to build a bar hopper and it has an after market tank. The guy that had it before me lost the gas cap. i figured that i could find a cap cheap enough but NOWHERE can I find one. Ive tried advanced auto looking through all there caps for old cars 67 chevy truck is the closest but wont work, i ordered two from drag and they wont work. I have no clue what to do and I love the tank! aNY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Cut it out and tig a new bung on with a new cap...looks like you have to repaint anyway.


If not try an old rag! haha jk!

Lol Yeah that was my next direction but I would love to find a cap to save the extra cash. And yes definately needs to be painted and the rag is working for now but sucks on londer rides. My crossbones is broke sooooooooo here we go

hard to help with so little info. manufacture name or part # on the bottom side of the tank? other than the try every gas cap method, i'd find some freebe, who cares what, beat to hell, and cut the spigot out and tig weld to your tank. 2 bikes down at the same time......sucks. steve

Is that an old BMW tank? Looks like the type the old BMW locking gas caps used to fit.

looks like a old chevy valve cover cap might fit that. should be available at the parts store.

Have you tried a radiator cap?

If you can't find a match, I'd do (and did) what a few guys have said above, cut that out and weld in a new bung and cap. It's cheap and it looks like you're going to paint that tank anyway.

Looks like an older Jap bike tank, Honda maybe?

That hole is for a locking fuel cap like on my 1951 ford truck. The cut outs on each side is for tabs on the cap that fit into it so it does not spin and the are two more on the cap that are spring loaded and the key retracts them to open it.
