Default Heritage front fender light wiring Help.

My wifes Heritage has a wiring running into the front fender. I believe it goes to the fender tip light. The bushing that protects the wire from chafing in the side of the fender is broken. Can it be simply replaced by disconnecting the light wire and replacing the bushing? Or will I need to cut the wire replace the bushing and splice the wire back together? I am afraid the wire will rub through and create a short.

Not on a HD but:
I've cut the bushing/gromett [NOT IN HALF just one side] put it around a wire pushed it in place, then silliconed it in place from the rear/inside.

Thanks for all the ideas. I splice the light wire and installed the new grommet. Butt spliced wire ends and heat shrunk the connectors. $.50 grommet and about three hours for a 15 minute job. Normal for me I guess.

I did the same as you did on mine, but the hole in the fender seemed too small, given the size of the wiring; so I got a grommet that was a little bigger than the stock one and drilled out the fender hole a little bit. It also seemed that the wiring was routed in a weird way, so that when I turned the handlebars to the right, it got a little taut. So to make the process easier and to not have to cut the grommet, I snipped the wiring up by the fuel tank, re-routed and butt-spliced it there.
