Default Rear Tire/Front Tire

I have an '05 FLSTC. I do about 50% of my riding 2up and the rear tire on mine has about 8,000 miles on it. Prob be changing it pretty soon as the tread is showing about half of what it was new. This is a factory style HD Dunlop.

What tire do you guys like? I tend to want to put another Dunlop on it since I have had good luck so far with it... I know everyone has their own opinion, just want a good dependable piece. And NOT a car tire LOL.

Also, the front tire looks real good still....hardly any noticable wear. Do you guys always replace the front AND the rear at the same time?

Does any other brand "wear" better than the Dunlop?

If your tire is only half warn at 8k miles, get that one. You only need to change a warn tire, not both at the same time. Also, recommended shelf life of a mc tire is 5-7 years. Not sure if your tires are original or not given your questions.

They are not original, I took those off about 10 months ago. Bought the bike from my dad at 9500 miles, and have ridden about 8k since then..

what modifications do you have on the bike? I can not run a hard tire like a Dunlop, because it breaks loose. So i run Avon or Metzler. They do not last as long as Dunlop

I like the Metz ME880, great grip and average wear. No need to change both as long as you're using the same brand and style. If you change to a different manufacturer, it's always best to change them both so they match. Not a good idea to run 2 different brands or styles.
