Got a 21" rim on my FLSTN with Vee Rubber...back tire blew...don't want vee rubber..but want wide white walls...can I use the stock Harley tire on the back and switch to a different manufacturer up front? Any recommendations?
don't see why not. you can put whatever brand front/rear you want. i like to run the same brand just for consistency. running Avon with white wall on my front.
The first thing you need to know is that Vee is the only company that makes a WWW in 120/70/21. If you are running a 3" rim you can stretch a 90/21 on top the rim but that tire size is not recommended for that size rim and we had a few customers who dented their rims with this set up. That being said you can a an Avon front and rear and put those on your bike. You can mix brands if you wish but I prefer not to.
Check out Diamond back tires. OR, look up a member on here DB tires. Talk to a guy named Tab. He used to work at Diamond Back Tires in South Carolina. He stopped making WWs for a while but Ive been told he is back at it again. Thank GOD. He makes all of our WWs. And he does a GREAT JOB. He can take whatever tire you want and he puts a WW on. THEY ARE PERFECT. TRUST ME, and kozy, Malingere, and a bunch of others on this site.
I just don't get it, there's a huge demand for that size in a WW, but nobody seems to want to make them, other than Vee. When you do find them, thery're outrageously expensive. I'll be damned if I'd pay $375 for a front tire.

Why is this?
Take it from our experience, VEE RUBBER IS GARBAGE. Dont waste your time or money with Vee. They make a CRAP WW. Some of us know first hand. Oil spots in WW, uneven WW. Id go with Diamond Back ALL DAY LONG. Take whatever tire you want, pay for that tire and then have Diamond Back put a WW on for $100 per tire for a PERFECT WW. Thats a no-brainer to me. Had Tab take a Metz and put a WW on it and it was ****.
I will be doing that for sure. Is he still doing them?
I have been told, YES. Call Diamond Back Tires in South Carolina, and ask for Tab. You can also look him up on here, because he is a forum Member. DBTIRES
