Red face New tire is here, not thrilled, info need on things please

It was time for new tires on the bike, so i did a little reading here and there, decided to pick up a set of avon roadrider tires 150-70-18 for the back. Well it arrived today and needles to say I am not thrilled. It has a really tight radius cup to it. I have not been able to get out to look at other tires brands in this size. Is there any tire that is a flatter looking tire along the tread area(if that makes sense)? This is just a really peaky pointed looking tire. Thanks for any info. All the pics on line does not show any tire in ?? just random pics of that tire model. Again thanks

You could look at putting a car tire on it. Got a much flatter radius.

So is every tire that I find in this particular size going to have this tall narrow look to it? Is sport tires laid out diff as far as side wall height is compared to a cruiser? I have never bought tires for a 18 bike wheel, all have been for old school 16 rears, 21 fronts. That pisses me off if there is a actual diff in lay out configuration of the tire. The shop I ordered from while very nice said yah we put them on harleys all the time. Thanks

The 2nd number in the tire size is the the sidewall height as a percentage of the tires width. If you want a shorter sidewall, look for a tire with a smaller 2nd number. A "50" instead of a "70." The Michelin Commander II at least my size is a nice round profile.

I am pretty aware of the numbers and what they mean. I was kinda looking for if a actual sport bike style tire is different design then a cruiser giving the same profile. Maybe I sound crazy LOL.

You are crazy lol. Wait until you moount it on the rim and put weight on it, it will look much flatter then.

Sport bike tires are generally more peaked or triangle shaped so more rubber is on the road in a turn and the bike will fall over into the turn more easily.

The only way I can see getting a different profile is getting a vintage series tire or a car tire.
