Battery-Alternator or ???
When starting my wife's 03 Heritage, you hit the starter switch, it cranks for a split second then "nothing" for another split second and then it cranks right up. It sounds like the starter hits a dead spot for a second before it catches. Battery is 10 months old but has been on a tender since new. Alternator is original. 30k plus miles on the clock. I don't have a volt meter to check the battery. Any ideas or is it me looking for problems that are'nt there?

The battery must be properly tested. Simply putting a voltmeter across the terminals will not adequately test the battery. The voltage it puts out under a load ( ie: starting the bike) has to be checked.
Also, I agree with Hogpro. The fact that it has been on a tender has no bearing on whether the battery is good or bad.
Pull the battery. Any auto parts store can test it for you for free. Not that I'm suspicious in nature, but if the first place you have it checked tells you it's a good battery, I would go to another place for a "second opinion." If both agree, THEN the doctor's in!
Good luck.
