Ok, so now seriously thinking about the Shotgun. Can you tell if the holes are threaded before you start, ie I assume you would be able to see the holes or at least feel if there is a thread in them with the bike on the ground!

Ok, note to self, have a look before asking stupid questions :-) I can see the two lugs, they have a thread in them, so its just a case of if its the correct size or will need tapping.

 

My 06 did not need to be drilled and tapped. It bolted right up. Although I did not install mine, my indy said it was very easy and it was a 1st for him as well. His 1st with the shotgun that is. The reason I had my indy do it is time. I work swing shift with TONS of overtime. If and when I get a day off I want to ride on it not wrench on it even though I love that too. I am also low on tools thanks to my son and all his friends. My indy said he was very impressed with the system, much better than any other air ride system he has installed both in quality and function. I think he told me it took him 90 minutes to install. Thats from the time he started on it until the time he was test riding it. If you pull the trigger on it you will never regret it.

 

Think I'm going for it, just going to get in touch with JD. Bit more difficult from the UK, as if anything goes wrong, can't just send it back easily. But hey, we having a new kitchen fitted next week, so will be able to hide the expense

for mounting compressor used on sotgunshock:
2000 to 2006 recquires tapping two existing holes to 7/16 14 2007 up holes are already threaded, 2011 up with abs recquires different compressor bracket, shotgunshock kit includes all components necessary for a simple and secure install.

 

Got mine ordered, looking forward to getting it installed.

 

You guys who are getting ready to pull the trigger or already have and waiting for it to show up and installing it you are in for a real treat. I am betting you won't ever look back and regret you decision. Casbar, I pulled my stock springs and dropped in the progressive monotubes. It's the perfect compliment to the shotgun, IMHO. The bike just looks and handles incredibly well with that combination. I dropped my front an inch but you don't have too. If your going to replace the front springs I don't know why anyone would pull springs and then drop springs right back in it but thats just me and my thought process. At least give it a look and read a bit before you go and buy springs again.

 

We went with the Progressive Mono-tube P/N 31-2502, that is the part number for the stock height mono-tube spring system.
Just received it last week and haven't had time to install it yet.

 

Ok, well ordered my Shotguns yesterday. And JD has already shipped! Wow, that's impressive. Look forward to fitting them now. Reading the thread that has just started about mounting the switches on the handle bars with interest

Going to leave the front end springs until I've done some more research.
