Default Registering a out of state bike in Califronia

I'm thinking about buying a used out of state bike 1997 spcn with 15,000
miles. I live here in California and I checked the DMV site but would like some
members personal experiences. Thanks in advance.

I have not personally done it with a bike, but I think as long as it has 7500 miles you are good to go. I would post this the the general discussion forum and see if you get a better response.

Thanks Rednose, you're right DMV does say at least 7500 miles but also
has to meet pollution standards for the model year. I have not bought
the bike yet because it is also a Special Construction build which could
also cause problems. Living in California you know as well as I do how
the Ca. DMV operates. I'm really hoping someone has been through
this nightmare and can share their experience.

I have a car that is registered here that was special construction, and it is a pain in the *** unless you are dealing with a DMV that has experience with it. I would ask in the general discussion about the process on a bike, and what the inspection process (if any) is like.

I have done it a couple times. The only issue is you can't register a vehicle with less than 7,500 miles when you get it registered in California. SJ Ron
