Default FYI - HD Labor increased to $110 per hr Nationally

Spoke to my local dealer (TX) yesterday about some proposed work and he mentioned that the labor rate increase. Thats $30 dollars an increase here in TX. I guess I'll be doing more upgrades myself.

I find it hard to beleive that every HD dealer in the country will be at $110 per hour.

You can find a variance of $20-$30 or more per hour in labor rates now, depending on the dealer and the part of the country you're in.

I don't think that HD can mandate that every service department will charge $xxx per hour nationwide.

They don't mandate the across the board hourly rate now, what has changed?

I've always done my own work anyway so it doesn't affect me, but a national hourly labor rate sounds like BS to me.

Man, that's high!

Haven't been to the local Harley dealer in a while but that would be a $30 increase here in WA, as well. Fck 'em...support independent shops if it's work you can't do yerself.

Could be for (Nationally for TX),, there's been talk about them wanting to be their own Country again we hear about up here.

Our dealer lowered his labor back to $75 (Indy North) two yrs ago. but I really don't know what it is this yr.
Son just had a bunch of work done there. He didn't say anything about the labor cost raising a big amout.

They are really getting more and more boutiquey. My local dealer in Japan said they had to spend a bunch of money to buy new lighted signs and interior decor. In order to remain as an official dealer, they are forced to have the exact same signs and decor as every other dealer.

My sled would sit in the garage collecting dust before I spent that kind of money. If anyone is interested and lives in the area I have a VERY good INDY shop here in town about 40, 50 miles S.W. of Chicago and he charges 70 an hour. The thing about this indy shop rather then a HD shop is this guy is an excellent mechanic and even better, there is no crap if you have to take your bike back, something I have never had to do with him. He will make your bike right, no questions, no crap. I have made a few friends from up in the city that now comes down here to have him work on their bikes. If anyone would be interested in this shop just send me a private message for questions or info.

The dealer by my house is already $88 per hour. I thought that was too high.
