Default fork spring replacement

Did a search, cant find squat.
I've ordered a set of Progressive HD front springs, non lowering.
I have a manual.
94 fxstc
But I'm curious as to any tricks to avoid pulling the forks completely?
If I have to I will, But if not, Well you get where I'm going.
Thanx in advance.

Pull the forks, for your sanity sake, pull the forks. I was thinking like you when I replaced my lowers on my Fatboy. It all seems easy enough until it comes time to compress the springs and get the end nut on. I forked around with it for about 45 minutes until I accepted defeat.

It's SUPER DUPER easy to set the wrench on the floor and use your body weight on the forks to compress them and get the nut started, though, i can tell you that.

I'm just asking so bear with me.
I don't need to pull the lower rod to add a spring for lowering (though this made no sense). Anyway:
I just need to be able to remove the old spring to install the new spring, change oil, cut spacer and reassemble.
Won't the spring come out of the upper tree without removing the fork tube?

it will, and as long as you have a way to lift at least the front of the bike off the ground it won't be that hard to restart the cap. You will probably have to loosen the pinch bolts on the lower tree to allow the fork tube to slide down and give enough room to remove the actual spring cap though

I've got a lift, and looking at it I see that if I can get the uppers low enough I might be able to pull the springs. But the added wheel weight might make it a bitch to re-install.
I should just take it apart. But riding seasons now quite over yet. So I'll wait untill there's snow on the ground.
Thankx
