Default Shorter Windshield Questions/Suggestions

As the title suggests, I'd like to run with a shorter windshield than stock. And as low a profile as will still help with wind at freeway speeds.

I've seen them as short as 15". Anyone have experience with those or 17" or like?

Thanks all!

Best thing to do is mask off one inch intervals and cut off till its what you are looking for.

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been running without a shield..I gotta say, I'll be glad when I get it back on..I'm waiting for some chrome hardware..it's tough not having something to shield the wind..certainly once you get up past 60mph, it gets loud and your skin starts peeling back..so I'm sticking with a full size shield..

old school was to have the top of shield even with the tip of your nose ..
see over it , and creates a no wind zone over the top of your head

Default Clearview Shields height recommendation

Hi Meggabutter. I can't speak for other companies or their shields, but with our Clearview design, we recommend that you choose a shield where you can look over the shield by approx 1" while sitting normally and looking at the ground 50' in front of you. You'd have a nice view over and, with our recurve, you'd get the protection you are seeking.

Hope that helps and if I can help further, please let me know. Have a great end of the week and ride safe out there!

That's how I did mine and it worked out great. Sanded and polished the edge to a better than factory finish.

I went a little lower, about lip level and the wind is still deflected to where the bug hit about 1.5" about the visor of my helmet.

Best of both worlds. You get the wind deflection yet then visual & feel of riding without a windshield.

I just installed a 17" and was suprised how much it still reflects the wind, for me it was a good improvement overall.

I love this shield, what make is it?

I had my Heritage stock windshield cut down by 3". In hindsight 2" would have been enough for me to see over it, however it's so much better than it was where I was looking at the top of the shield which was right on my eyeline/horizon. Too high was not good at night or in rain. A bug still zapped me at 60mph last week on the cheekbone but the wind control is good at highway speeds.

That's a stock windshield for a 97 Heritage Springer with the optional bra.

Friend has one and they're amazing, small footprint and push an extra few inches around every edge due to the curve in the shield.

Plus they're easy to take off and sharp.
