Default Tires for Fat Boy Low

Howdy, new to this site, and a proud new owner of my first Harley, a 2012 Fat Boy Lo, had Japanese bikes prior. Anyways, love this thing, so comfortable and easy to ride. Question is, what would a good set of tires be to replace the stock ones? I only got about 5500mi on the original rear, and it is bald as an egg. The tires perform well, but the mileage is poor. I don't do burn outs, or otherwise abuse the rubber, although I do accelerate fairly aggressively on occasion, 90% of the miles are touring, so not stop and go. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

Unfortunately, you either have to settle for low-mileage/hi-performance (more expensive) or high-mileage/low performance (better value). You can't have your cake and eat it, too, with motorcycle tires. A lot of it is your riding style, but chances are, if you got low mileage out of this one, you'll get low mileage out of the next one. If you want to save money and have a longer lasting tire, I'd look at the D401s (stock tire for X-Bones) or the Dunlop American Elite. If you want a performance monster and don't care about the money, look at the Pirelli Night Dragons.

HoggyMtnBreakdown; Thanx for the input, I find it interesting that you say the Pirelli is such a great performer, but won't wear well, I know that the performance tires have a softer compound, stick better, wear less, and just prior to your response, krugs72 said he runs the very same tire and is getting decent mileage out of it. No question that a persons driving habits will have a significant effect on tire wear. Thanx again for your input, it is much appreciated.
