Not trying to discourage anyone, but last week I ordered the detachable sideplates, and the detachable saddlebag kit. When I removed the factory rigid mount sideplates the fender struts were pretty scratched up I said the hell with it and left them on.
Boss bags makes a great setup for your stock bags, and actually sucks them in closer then stock with a qd sissy bar. I have a ton of miles on mine with bags loaded and no real complaints. One bag is a little tight to come off, but only takes 30 to take both off.
Thanks for the P/N: $179.95 List . . . of course numerous On-line MoCo Dealers have them for ~20% off that price. I have been using the Barebacks set-up at about $123 and have been quite happy with this product except for the attachment of the lower bag struts to the bike. This Harley Kit seems to address this . . . I may have to consider "fixing" by lower bag struts on my bike to get the best of both worlds.

That's another concern: the lower struts. Some aftermarket solutions simply does not consider the lower struts and leave the problem for us to solve.
This is another reason I'm interested in the Harley hardware.
I use cycle vision's barebacks, they work great and they don't make your bags stick out. You can buy them on ebay for 70 bucks and free shipping. You still have to buy the detach kit for your sissy bar and side plates if you wanna take it off but you have to buy it all seperately anyway.

Thank you for your comments.
Good to know that there are other after market options.
