Default 2000 Deuce: what's it worth ?

Ad reads "2000 Softail Deuce, 11,000 miles. Screaming Eagle package, Mustang seat. new tires. $8,700"

According to NADA and KBB, that is the high end of retail. Might go look at it tomorrow. Love my EVO and wouldn't be getting rid of her, but the Deuce might make a good addition and it is local: no travel involved.

Any issues with the 2000s ? Anything specific to look out for ?
What does the "Screaming Eagle Package" consist of ?

Thanks !

Yeah, I was thinking about rolling up with 66 $100 bills and see what happens.

Weren't there some recalls for that year ? Can't seem find much on line....

Old as it is I would check cam chain tensioners. SE package on an 03 had dual disk on front with 1" axle (not 3/4). Should have an Screaming Eagle Timer Cover Badge. Caps in all the bolts. Looks like standard Deuce pipes to me.

Doubt you get it that cheap but you are not far off. Bikes that are selling are about half way between trade (6000) and retail (8300) so around $7000-7500 if in good shape.

The Deuce is the red headed step child of the Harley world, nothing fits it. Also 2000 is first year for Twin Cam B. And of course tensioners but you have some miles before you worry about that.

Start at your $6600 and go from there.

If the guy is asking the high end of retail, for a private transaction, he's asking too much, IMHO.

Looks pretty dirty, like its been sitting a while. Bring some kind of cloth/no water cleaning stuff to get a better look at the chrome under the dust.

Are we talking after market stuff ? Did an image search, saw many Deuces with bags, shields, pipes, etc. What doesn't fit ? Engine should be the 88b, so that shouldn't be a problem ?

This looks pretty stock to me. Didnt the SE II package come with an upgraded air cleaner on it? The pipes look like the stock shotgun over under setup. So far I have not run into any major issues with my 06 when looking for parts. I bought my 06 with 5K on it for 11 so I think thats a bit high for private sell.

So far the only thing I have found is the indicator panel under the speedo. There is NOTHING out there for them. I want to ditch mine and run just a normal speedo with all my lights and indicators in that. I have drag bars SEII slip ons with BCT baffles, and a fuel pak. Finding a good seat or sissy bar is kind of a pain as well.
