Sounds a bit flaky to me. It is one thing if they never knew and yet another think if they are saying SE package. Guys who are into upgrading the 88 to a 95 usually have some signs on bike that they were into power and speed a little. At least some High performance exhaust and air cleaner upgrade to high performance usually are standard upgrades when spending that kind of money on a build. Not everyone has that upgraded, but usually an indicator.

just be careful. As far as prices go... it is hard to say on a forum that reaches world wide like this. every area prices change depending on market. Some are more rider friendly and hold value better than other areas. Good luck!

With the 95" $6000 is a steal. $7000 is a good deal. Did they do anything else when they did the 95"? Cams, gear drive?
Don't really know yet: been corresponding with the PO via email. Hope to actually talk to her today.

Just talked to her. She has no clue (about anything, I think) about any engine mods. I'm going to see the bike this afternoon and am going to go on the basis of it being a stock engine. Did find out from the PO that she sold it to the current owner for $9K at 7,000 miles. So he has put on 4k miles and still wants $8700.

Got a feeling this isn't going to work out, but will take a look and make an offer.

Thumbs down

Well, that didn't go well !!

Went and checked out the bike: he had actually cleaned it up and it looked good. No damage or apparent leaks. Started easily, sounded good, nice rubber, etc. So I started with an offer of $7500, which was higher than I had planned, but it was a nice ride.

He went bat **** !! No counter offer, or discussion: just started shouting "I'm NOT f***ing giving it away !!" Went in the house and slammed the door ! Left me standing in the driveway with the bike (and the keys). I was amazed: never had this happen.

Pissy little bitch. Thing is, it was such a straight, clean ride, that I probably would have come up a some more. Oh, well: no Deuce in the garage.

Think I'll go ride the EVO and be happy ! Thanks for all the input, gents.

Some people think it's still the 90's. $7500 was more than fair on that scoot.
Keep looking.

It was a pretty much clean stock deuce, what did he expect? What a little bitch....screw em then. I say it's a bargain, but not like you said 2000 dollars and insulted him and wasted his time. It was in range of even blue book.

If you are serious about getting one. Jump on ebay too...there are some good deals always and transportation is not hard. hell I flew out to Dallas and bought one and rode it home.

Naw, left em on the seat !
Too bad on the deal though, mainly cause it was an "unmolested" bike that you could then do anything with you wanted. As he was ranting he said something about EBay and Craigs List. If he thinks I was low-balling him, wait till he sees those offers !!

You made the guy a fair offer….screw him.

Funny story….So my buddy, who is trying to sell a crotch rocket, comes in today all pissed off. Last night a guy comes by to look at his bike, for which he is asking $4k. The guy pulls up on a scooter. He looks over the bike and asks if he can sit on it, my friend agrees. He then asks if he can start it, again my friend agrees. The guy then starts free revving the engine. He then asks if he can test ride the bike, and my friend says, sure, if you leave a 100% cash deposit. He then says I can give you $2k, umm no my friend replies. Ok, $3k, again the answer is “no, it’s $4k firm.” The guy continues to play with the throttle and clutch and puts the bike into gear and lets off the clutch. The bike stalls but does not go over. My buddy snatches the keys and asks him to get off the bike. The guy then says that he does not want to spend $4k because he is not even sure he can handle a bigger bike, since he just failed a MSF course.
