from the heads? Usually a 1/2" nut, unless its been changed. I find a 1/4" drive socket and 12" extension works great for the rear, a shorter(3-6") extension on the front, with the possibility of having to use a box wrench for the lower nut due to the frame

Looks like I need to go find a few extensions. lol I have a few but none seem long enough to reach any of the bolts. I thought there may be some tricks to getting to them or a certain tool to help things.

Gotcha.... and as far as removing it. All I need to do is remove the 4 bolts and the mount down near the back/bottom that holds the back end and they will just slide right out? I assume I need to unplug or unscrew the piece that attaches to the front also (looks like some sort of sensor).

As far as reinstalling, do I use blue loctite or anti sieze or just bolt everything back on?

Do you have to remove the back pipe? Looks like you just have to remove the front one to gain full access to your cover or maybe the other way around.

Well, I might be able to get away with removing just the top pipe but even the lower one is in front of it.

I am also thinking of doing the 2X4 method of putting the bike on 2 2X4's and then leaning it over on the kickstand so I don't have to drain the tranny fluid.

This method really scares me. lol It doesn't seem like the kickstand would hold the weight of the whole bike leaned over like that... but I guess it does since people do it.
