The cover doesn't have to pull out much as I think there was a dowel or two. You just need to get at the bolts and slide the cover down to the floor to release the cable. Have a good set of snapring pliers or a small set of needle nose pliers to separate the ramps. Don't loose the 3 ramp ***** on disassembly.

Which cover? The tranny cover? I thought you had to take that whole clutch/tranny cover off to get to the clutch cable? Then use the snap ring pliers to release it... and I did read about not loosing the 3 ramp *****.

I went and bought this today... I just hope the biggest one (9" I believe) is big enough for the snap ring on the clutch:

I needed the smaller one also to remove the clutch lever and release the cable.

You are right about that. I'm just saying you don't need a lot of clearance to the pipes to remove it. You should at least see if you can remove it first before taking the pipes off. I used a hex key with the rounded tip for the middle cover bolts. Maybe it won't work with yours.

I see. I will certainly try to get it off without removing the pipes before removing them.

Can you check out that link to the snap ring pliers set I bought and see if the largest one will work to get that large snap ring off inside the clutch cover?

That looks like a good set and should do the trick. If not, have two flatheads on standby for backup. That snapring is tough! I made do with small tipped needle nose pliers.

Thanks man! I will go get one of those at Lowes tomorrow.

I just realized that it looks like I have to take off the heat shields to get to the 4 bolts to remove the pipes. I didn't catch that yesterday when I was looking at it.

Pipes will be easy compared to what you have all ready done. Side note. I have never replaced my exhaust gaskets and I have gone through 3 pipe changes and had them off many times in case you were worried about changing them.
