Default Handlebar vibration dampener..... homemade with pics .....

I know a lot of you have issues with vibration and buzzing in the handlebars and this makes it difficult to see in the mirrors, makes the hands and fingers numb after a while and is just really annoying. Here's a little easy trick that I have used on my last 4 bikes and it works just great.

You take a peace of lead plate (get it from your local scrapyard or something). Lead is very soft and easy to work with and it's real heavy too. Cut it out aprr. 4 " wide and make a roll out of it that fits Tight into the handlebar. You can use a hammer to get it all the way in. Afterwards take a large screw and screw this into the middle of the roll after it's placed in the handlebar. This will make the lead roll wider and stay in place inside the handlebars. Each lead roll weighs about 4-500 grams which is more than the dampeners you can buy. It's a real easy job and takes overall about an hour. Cheap and very efficient

A simpler method to obtain the same end result...simply fill the handle bars with lead shot...no more vibration.

fill the entire bar or just the grip ends ? i would think that the shot would rattle.

Nice idea! I would think the rolled lead just in the grip area would work just fine as just the weight of my hand resting on my bars stops the vibes.

Yeah the buckshot solution is also quite effective but I just don't want to fill the entire handlebars because of the internal wiring

Don't have a problem with the 96B. One less thing to take care of.

Yah, that's what I was thinking. Shouldn't be an issue on the Softail B motors. I know it's not on mine.
