whats the best battery for 06 softail?

I just went through this for my bike. Hours of research, lots of phone calls. In the end, I bought HD. I even called a indy I know who sells batteries, and use to manage the HD dealership in town, and he told me to go to the HD dealer and pay for the battery. There are lots of options, but I honestly think there really isn't a much better battery out there, and if you find one that's as good or better, it probably wont be much cheaper. That being said, I know there are lots of people that have great luck with other batteries. Even lots of walmart batteries out there, but why chance it? Just my 2 cents...

This one works for me. Made by the same company that makes hd batteries. At half the price. no big deal. whatever starts the bike.

Not to give U a smart answer.
But is there really a best of anything,,, NO usually not.. only what we like and how much money U want to spend..
I went with a BatteryPlus Glass Mat one this spring... so far, its been fine and it has a 2 yr warranty, where as the HD one is only 6 months.. it was $40 less and 80 miles closer than our dealer..
Made by Deka which also makes the HD batter to my understanding and MY org battery lasted 5yrs almost to the day.
Any way,,, heres a link to look up Ur answer to Ur question.

Yup, I'd get this one. My original HD battery lasted 1 1/2 years. My Walmart battery lasted 2 1/2 years. But I had a bad starter from the factory and it ruined my batteries. Put a new starter in this week and can't believe the difference. I'm thinking this battery will last much longer than the last 2. Get the Tristate battery.

I would agree that my HD original batteries lasted for a number of years, and hard to beat that reliability. Not saying they are all like that, or that the reliability can't be beat, just saying based on my experience.
Last year when I needed one, I shopped around and found that the HD price was only a few bucks more and I was willing to pay that because of my experience. In my area, I found Batteries Plus to be more expensive. So whatever you decide, shop around.
