from what i hear, that Harley aluminum has a coating that you should NOT take metal polish to.
Thanks.
Wow... "clean" ? "shine"? hehheehh! I think I've taken my '13 Slim to
the hand-held sprayer car wash twice and it's NEVER been handwashed....
I've never been a washer, just ride 'em!

If the case is raw polished aluminum, Mothers Mag Polish will work well.

Check your axle and steering head grease .....that pressure can blow it out

I dont go for a gloss finish, just a spotless finish
So the derby cover is chromed and not aluminum? okay. I didn't know that. It looks like aluminum and it looks like it has some type of film on it. So as far as cleaning it, which chemical or cleaners do you use?

Chrome polishing creams are what I use on all the engine cases because it"s formulated to be the gentlest of all abrasive products
For those hard to lift spots I work it in with 000.00 steel wool pads
Barely enough of an abraising to hurt the bare metal
On the chrome bits I use my fingers or cloth
The forks are coated aluminum. Compare it to the engine cases for reference

OK, so after reading 311 pages I'm finally jumping in!

So, "Hi folks!"

I've just bought my charcoal grey Slim and already looking to do a few mods.

First up is a spring seat, 1925 'tractor' style.

I think I'm gonna go for a Rich Phillips mounting kit and I'm waiting to hear back from him/them but I believe they now do a tractor style seat too.

I'll post pics as and when I get round to doing it as my bike's just stock right now (apart from a super-reduced reach seat - not because I'm short at 5'11", but I want to be higher/further-forward).

I assume most aftermarket spring seat kits you can adjust to a certain degree to get the height/position as you want? Higher springs, space out the bolts under the front to raise/change the angle?

Anyhoo, for now, "hi" and loving all the modded bikes!
