so the dealer did that. no case cement in several places, but the case itself did not exhibit any porosity. so they are delivering the bike back tomorrow. third time it has been in.

one item of note. wheeping at the base of cylinders is not considered a leak by harley (or at least that is what i was told). so not really covered under warrantee.

so we shall see what happens next. i am hoping that the lack of case sealant was the main issue. sounds like really poor QC on the motor companies part....
That is such bs.
I Hope you get it all worked out man.

got the bike back monday. they delivered (great service to have, by the way).

case all sealed up, looks very uniform on top and bottom now... was not the "case" prior. took it out for a 50 mile ride wednesday and all is fine so far. no bubbling on seam of case, no wheeping at base of cylinders. so we shall see. hope they got it this time.

It sounds like the dealer is treating you right so far. That's good to hear.

Agreed, you hear of lots of dealer horror stories. This one is trying to give good service.

yea.. they do treat me right. i have a dealer much closer to me, but had heard a few bad stories about them, so bought this bike from the dealer that serviced and took care of my 2003 FXST. about 15 miles away.

cannot complain about them at all... harley quality control... well i am not the poster child for them.. lets just say.

thanks guys!

i had the same issues with my sportster i know its not the same motor but mine ended up going through 2 sets of base gaskets before the dealer figured out there was a casting flaw with my engine so just a heads up if it does it again make sure they check your mating surface from jugs to base of engine thats where my main issues came from

thanks! but they already changed the base gaskets and o-rings, thinking that was the issue... so they did that first and then the case. so i think we went through the same issue, just different order.

Good to report a good story.. so many in here would be blasting away..

Seems we hear mostly the bad stuff, but it seems that seldom do members take the time to post all the good stuff dealers do.

thanks for the thread.

Glad it worked out for you. I have been very pleased with my dealer as well. But really: loose spokes, bad regulators and now oil leaks on the new Softails?

1) after 200 miles, no signs of leak, wheeping, or bubbling. (longest so far)
2) hope you all have a great holiday and happy new year in 2013 (assuming the mayans were wrong that is.... )
