Default What tools are needed for putting a new rear wheel on?

Are there any specialty tools I'm going to need for putting on a new rear wheel and drive belt? It's on a 2006 Deuce. I have a completely bare wheel I'm going to be swapping so that I can put a bigger tire on as well as a new pulley and a thinner belt. I'm going to have to swap the rotor over as well.

To swap the belt, the entire inner and outer primary have to come off.

An impact gun will make the comp nut and clutch assembly removal most helpful.

Got it. Do I need anything special to pull the axle?

Just a 200. Do I need any gaskets for the primary?

Yep, replace all of the inner primary seals and the shifter seal while you have it all apart. Much easier than tearing it all apart again when a few $$$ would save doing it again.

The wheel should be here today. I'm going to get a list together of everything and see if I can't get it done by the 18th for the local annual bike night. I doubt it will happen though; the powder coater will be the hold up.

OK, I may have a new problem. I just received the wheel and it measures 6 3/4" from outside edge to edge. The wheel itself says 17x6 stamped on it. Is this normal?

After reading today, the wheel width is measured by where the bead seats on the wheel, so it's the right size. I'm going to measure the inside and find out what bearings I need and drop it off at the powder coater on Monday. It's going to be a flat black, which look a little wierd with the chrom front and chrome everything else right now, but this winter I'm going to get the engine casings, dash, and front end powder coated black. I was thinking of doing the primary since I have to have it off anyways, but that would end up looking a bit too mismatched for me right now.

Do I have to replace the gaskets on the primary every time I pull it?

And I'm glad I got this thing. This is probably the most work I've done to any vehicle I've owned so far. I've done everything except the new jugs, cylinder, and cam. I'm even thinking about doing the heads while I have the rockers off so that I can get it dyno tuned. I've worked on cars I've owned and done small stuff like suspension and bolt on engine upgrades and all the bikes I've owned prior to this for the most part have been sport bikes which haven't needed more than an exhaust and a few simple bolt ons.
