Admittedly, I am a rookie here in HD Forums, but it looks to me that you could get a new set of handle bars that might help a lot. For instance, I'm thinking a set of drag bars on 6" risers, that should bring it back towards you and allow you to relax more when riding.

Son, Your problem is pressure points on your hind end caused by the position that your bike has your body in while you ride. You can spend untold amounts of money changing angle on your bike....taking shot after shot into the dark.....or do what I did for instant relief. Pick up an AIR HAWK seat cushion, follow the instruction in the box, and drive off happily into the sunset.

A little bit a air in that multi-celled blatter, and all pressure is distributed evenly. I swear by mine.

This option will cost a couple hundred bucks, and we won't know exactly what needs to be done as they wont have me in their shop to fit the seat to me.

In the meantime, I received the Custom Chrome oval floorboards I ordered and installed them. I haven't ridden extensively with them, but they seem to be helping so far! I left out the intemediate adjustable "dog bone", as I feel it would push my feet to wide away from the controls. I can operate the controls as is, but I will adjust both the brake and shifter pedals up if I decide to keep them.

Without further ado, here are some pictures of the ugliness I've created:

I'm not thrilled with the look, but not 100% disgusted if it means I can ride comfortably. If they work I'll look into fabbing some ultra-custom stirrups based on measurements of where I like my feet on the boards.

Jared
That's about the best looking seat arraignment I've see on a Rocker.

Sorry you let the inner lizard make your decision for you. No wonder the guy only put on 1800 miles. All that aside, it is a good looking bike. You will have to fork out for a different/better seat for sure. Very common with stock seats though, my Road King Classic stock seat sucks big time, and that's why I got a Sundowner.

OK, handlebars are next. I like the looks of the 12" apes. Any thoughts for my situation?

Thanks,
Jared

Only thing I can offer is to do what I've posted in here for yrs..

I read this 20 YRS ago.. when deciding on bar height and setback..

Have some else hold Ur bike upright.

Sit on Ur bike and get comfortable.

Then with Ur eyes closed, reach up and pretend Ur ridding with Ur arms and hands out to get the feel of what U want.

Then measure where Ur hands are and get the bars that best match the measurements U took.

Do it several times to make sure U get what U want.

I respect the fact that a fella'S MADE 27,000 POSTS.. he's obviously been around the block a few times.....however excuse me for saying, his advise to the OP is punk. The man's asking for help to relieve a pain radiating from his ***. So here he's getting suggestions to close his eyes and "visualize" outstretched arms for a comefort level for handlebars????? Come on. Why not have him sit with his eyes closed for 12 hours to visualize how he'd feel after a 600 mile trip???

I supose if somebody had a bottomless budget, and an unlimited time frame, he could try every combination of high dollar custom seat, swap bars and floorboards till the cows come home as well....until he finds what works best for him.

I'd bet a dollar to a donut that and cheap little ol' Air Hawk cushion would cure this boy's trouble. Know why????? Cause it sure worked for me.

This video shows what you need to think about before buying any bars.
What oct1949 suggested is ageless advice. I've used it whenever I've gotten a different bike.
I loosen the stock bars and adjust them with my eyes closed to where they feel comfortable and then lower them 1" to account for the wind blowing against you while riding.
