Sorry for the loss! That sux! I live in Central Jersey I think I am going to get LoJack for my ride.
This is from them:
Motorcycle theft is a big problem - there were 49,791 bikes stolen in 2010 - that's more than $325 million in losses. Since 2007, there have been more than 236,000 motorcycle thefts*. Are you protecting your bike?
Most motorcycles are stolen by professional thieves, and there's little you can do to prevent them from taking your bike if they really want it. But if your motorcycle is stolen, you can get it back with LoJack For Motorcycles - the only Stolen Vehicle Recovery System operated by the Police.
* Per NICB's Motorcycle ForeCAST 2010 report

Sorry to hear the bad news, followed your previous posts wrt upgrades versus model change with interest. Last summer in the afternoon, driving with my 12 yr old son up my street, I passed two bikes and two punks with full coverage helmets , but locked eyes on one when I noticed they were pushing my FXR with the other bike riders foot on the back fender. Did the huge 180 deg turn, and when they realized who I was ...and that I was coming after them, they crashed my bike on the street and doubled up on the other bike (fast jap bike)...anyways high speed pursuit till I lost them at the dutch border and my son was yelling for me not to kill us (yeah a bit of high speed wobble on the back roads over here, and I was guilty of bad parenting), But I did want retribution but saved the bike with some damage, and my son from a potential ugly scene or crash. I considered myself lucky as the German cops claim bikes (HDs') are in Moscow or Poland in 24 hours over here. They don't even have to chop them up, they sell them whole and for premium dollars, so bike theft is serious business in Europe and Harley Davidsons' are always at high risk and sadly you don't let them out of your sight and you always ensure you are not followed home ! Again sorry for your loss, but you have to keep your cool, despite it being damn personal and serious matter.
