The terms: "Accurate Fuel Gauge" and "Harley-Davidson" do not belong in the same sentence, paragraph or any other written construct! Just be glad it wasn't off the other way. Ex: It was showing that you had a half a tank when you were actually empty . . . The fuel gauge is for show and should not be considered a functional component of the bike. Use you odometer!

Mine was acting up to. When I replaced my fuel filter I noticed that the float assembly had come out of the slot along side the tank that it secures to and was just Laying inside of the tank. Slid it back in and all is well .

When I bought my used '05 the fuel gage was so far off it was silly. Fortunately it came with a warranty and the tech took care of it for no cost. For what ever reason, since the wrench got in there, replaced and messed with it, its been absolutely dead on for the last 2000 miles. I just hope it stays that way. What I am trying to say, is at least in my case, it was able to be fixed by the dealer. Just sayin'.

Nope, now there are at least two of us.

Mine has worked and showed the right amount since she was new..

I also set the A trip to Zero every time I fill, but it mostly to check mileage.

Reserve light also comes on between 165-190 everytime with usually 1 gal left in tank..

My 02 Night Train that I bought new was dead on accurate but my 2010 Heritage that I bought new never worked right. they changed the float assembly under warranty and it is the same way. ( probably didn't even change it ) It goes from full to red on the gauge in about the first fifty miles , then stays in the red for what seems like forever. Harleys attitude about warranty repairs after the first time is " oh well , I tried " .
