Default Not new to Harleys, but new to softails. Fair price for this bike?

Hey fellas,

Got out of my VRSCDX this past February and I now have the itch to get back on two wheels. Thinking of going the more subdued/comfortable cruiser route this time... I'd appreciate any feedback you all might have on this particular bike and also a ballpark figure on where to start my offer. By the look of the pictures, it's a pristine example of a Heritage Softail Classic. Here's the link:

http://cosprings.craigslist.org/mcy/3037270456.html

KBB value is right at $11.5k. The guy has it listed for $13,500 and it's seen 16k miles. He's got V&H pipes, a windshield, bags, engine guards, highway pegs, etc. The thing is, I barely got anything out of the mods I put on my Vrod (Thunderheader exhaust, LED lighting, Ghostrider Customs pegs/levers, etc) when I sold it, so I don't want to pay too much. Of course, I also don't want to lowball the guy because I absolutely detest that happening to me and he seems like the type with whom you'd want to have a beer.

Thanks in advance for your assistance. I actually feel good about joining the aircooled crew... does that mean I'm getting old?

I would'nt offer any more then book value. Add on's are worth $00.00 when selling a bike.

Appreciate the responses, guys.

I'll go with KBB value as my offer.

Yes, those are definitely big shot staggered pipes...look great!

He is asking too much for the bike, which is no surprise. I would say you should be able to get its worth $10500 h $11500. I would go in low...if he doesn't like it, move to the next one.

It all comes down to how bad you want the bike and what YOU are happy paying.

Also, the $11.5k kbb value you stated is retail, right? If so, that is high. Bikes here in Cali sell for around trade in value all the time... if not a little over... and never retail. And this is in Cali where bike prices are probably higher than anywhere.

That's a good point. Thanks for the objective perspective, man.

Starting at $10.5k sounds good to me.

Don't give in. It's a buyers market. Start at 10k and work from there.

I agree.

I bought my bike below (a 2007 Softail Custom) for $10800 and it only had 4700 miles. A good deal on that bike would be $10500 - $11k but i would only pay $11k if I just couldn't live without the bike. If your patient, there are deals everywhere.

But if you want a particular bike the go for it and dont look back!
