Damn! Never heard of the pinch bolts snapping. You're pretty lucky you didn't go down with the top fork nut (essentially only an oil fill nut) being the only thing holding your forks to your trees! Consider yourself lucky that didn't result in more damage or injury. Good to hear ya got it fixed!
