Default Fuel tank range?

Hello,

I'm curious what sorta mileage a 2007 softtail should be getting.

I'm ridin 1/2 way respectable round town to and fro to work. Avoiding cages.

5 gal
94 octane
~90 miles before the fuel light is on.

Wonder if the new flush fuel mount / fuel sending unit is acting up.

I'm asking before I start seriously logging fuel vs miles.

Thanks for your help. It will also help for longer highway range planning too.

Have a good one

Harry

On my Crossbones, it really depends on speed and conditions. When we rode to Colorado Springs from Georgia, If we stayed at 75 mph or so, I got to the point that I would get roughly 200 miles on a tank. Once I think I could have gotten about 220-230 based on what it said I had left til empty when we stopped for gas. We started off planning fuel stops every 150 based on my bike because the other guys I was with were all on baggers. We were able to stretch that a few times. Even riding around town, 90 miles til fuel light doesn't seem right. My wife's old sporty did better than that.

The flush mount fuel gauge is not accurate at all. Don't use it to figure your range, use the odometer. I get around 44 MPG riding two-up, around 49 solo. My low fuel light comes on when I still have two gallons left in the tank.

I generally get about 170 miles on a tank. Low fuel light comes on right at 0.5 gallons, just like the manual says.

225-250 miles per tank for me, depending upon speed. Under 65mph I get 45+ mpg. At 75mph, it is about 40. I usually fill up at 175, if for no other reason, to stretch my legs.

Gas gauge and low fuel lights are a joke.
My low fuel light comes on sometimes at 120 sometimes 150 who knows when it will come on....
I use my odometer, ive gone as far as 180,put in 4 1/2 gals....

I'll get a low light around 160 to 170 miles. If I stop right then and fill up I'll put 4 gallons in. That means I have 1 gallon left or safely 40 miles.

Almost exactly the same as above. 165-180 almost every time for 5yrs and 38k.

Low Light comes and if I refill soon, it'll takes between 1.2 and 1 gal almost every time...

About 99% of the time for both above.

She's done this since she was new and still does.
