Default 18" or 21" SMOOTH rim?

I have the smooth chrome rim laced w/stainless spoke HD wheels, so they're not the typical step lip style rims most aftermarket wheels are.

looking to do either an 18" or 21" front in classic 40 or 60 spoke, but want to maintain the rim style so I can run my stock rear wheel and have it all match up.

found this photo...who makes this style wheel and what's it called/referred to as exactly?

...on that same note, I'm hearing low profile tires do not make up for the larger overall diameter...
I have a 2.5" lowering kit f&r and not really looking to lose that drop, so is one size better than the other at keeping (somewhat close) to the same overall rolling diameter?
will and 18" help me out at all vs. going to the full 21"?

thanks for the help...

to address my second question concern, I found this in another thread:

Here is the difference between a 120/70/21 and a 130/70/18

Diameter inches 27.61 vs 25.17 or -2.44 difference
Width inches 4.72 vs 5.12 or 0.4 difference
Sidewall Height inches 3.31 vs 3.58 or only 0.27 difference
Circum. inches 86.75 vs 79.06 or -7.69
that pretty much answers my question and seems to be the way to do it!
or should I consider a 140/70/18? I want meat...

---

...still need help with that smooth rim tho, help!

I've seen the smooth 21" rims on display a H-D dealer, so maybe you could check there.

I would love to know the answer to this. My Blackline came with smooth wheels, but I really want a smooth 18" wheel for the back to replace the 16".

Ride Wright and HDW offer smooth lip rims. I got 16" smooth lips from Ride Wright, but HDW offers more variety in sizes and options. Check out their Apollo SL's...that's what you're looking for.

Harley does make the smooth lip rim in 16 and 21 " sizes. But the widest 21" would be 2.15" and the widest 16 would be 3" hdwheels.com has what you are looking for. It is called the Apollo SL (softlip) wheel. They come in sizes from 16,17,18,19,21 and 23 in all different widths. Ridewright now has a smooth lip rim as well for fat spokes not sure about regular spokes.Hope this helps.

I have the smooth 21" for the front of my deluxe, but haven't installed it yet. It was off of a newer Night train I believe.
