Default Engin guard on a fatboy pics? How much? Which one? Looks good?

Thinking about putting an engin guard on my fatboy so I can mount highway pegs. What else do they do? Do they help in a crash? Who makes decent ones? How much would an install run? Still debating.... Any pics would be awesome!

I have a mustache style engine guard on my 2006 Fat Boy. If you should happen to drop your bike, it will protect the tank. I bought mine on ebay for $165 and that included shipping. As for install, its very simple, 3 bolts and you are done. The holes for the two lower bolts are already in the frame as is the mounting point for the top bolt

I have a standard HD one I got of C-list with pegs...pretty comfortable. You can sort of see it in this pick.

I am pretty sure mine is an HD bar and yes they will afford you legs a little protection if you lay it down at speed. Been there and done that once.

$174 shipped off of ebay

They arent pretty but the trade off for the added protection in case of a drop is worth it Imo

Nice freakin fatty pics! My sig pic doesn't show mine (just put it back on). I have pegs instead of boards and it takes a bit of getting used to since they are close to the brake and shifter but no prob. Nice to be able to move the feet around on long rides. It can definitely save some paint on a drop and possibly save some skin on a skid. Ride on!

Mine is aftermarket also. I think it is Jardine, but i bought it from Dennis Kirk. My FXST has came out from under me twice at low speed (once on caliche in my driveway and once on grass) and bike never received a scratch. I can't say about how much it would protect me or the bike in a higher speed crash. They were primarily installed for highway pegs
