You can always spray them with Plastic Dip, If you want a rubbery Matt finish.

I've been wanting to do mine for awhile too but also not interested in taking the forks apart. Thought about the spray can finish but dont trust it yet. I saw a thread where a guy used appliance paint I think. I just dont want to start spraying them and getting runs our the paint not holding up

Plastic Dips is pretty easy and you can always take it off. If you look at my pictures, my forks are plastic for now. I honestly can't see you wrapping the lower forks in vinyl, It's too many curves where the fender bolts go.

Default Black sliders and cowbells, no coating needed...

The finish on HD black fork sliders and cowbells is extremely durable. No doubt it from personal experience on a previous Fat Boy that I rode for 9 years and 40k in AZ, NM, TX, and LA. No need for 3m tape, coatings, etc. The minor wear adds character.

By the way, the fender, tank, etc., will show wear as or more quickly than the fork sliders/tins if that sort of thing is important to you.

I haven't saw the thread that you're talking about. But I do know the 3M vinyl is extremely durable. I've striped several auto's with it, and it holds up very well.

I wrapped the upper part of my forks with Black Vinyl. This is not the thick stuff like you see on dirtbike graphics, it is thin like what stickers are made of. Super easy, and looks great imho.
