The springs center to center are 8 inches. Here are the pics I promised. The "*** cheek" part is 16 inches but looks wider because of the over hang. The pan is 16.

I have a CB with a Fat Boy rear fender. I also put the Harley tractor seat which is much better than the stock CB seat.

It is pretty much the same dimensions as the Harley seat. The guy who made it does outstanding work.

I was going to use it for the softail but decided to get a new one made for it.

The only problem for me is the mounting kit. I would rather not pay the dealer $250 or more just for that. I'm going to have to fabricate something instead.

Default I need help finding/making this part

It is to mount a solo seat to a 1999 and later softail. It's been out of stock for months

I don't think making it would be too hard. I just don't know how I could make it strong/hard enough to not bend with the weight on it.

Never seen that bracket before...do you know who makes it?.

There are so many kits out there for this mod. I'm using a crossbones hardware kit with a Harley "1925" seat now. All bolt on for my 07 springer classic. This pic. shows my bike with a west eagle set up which is also a bolt on.

That part is list on the Debrix web site. Pretty much exclusively. The problem I'm having is every "kit" out there is for 2000 and up. I'm looking for 1999 and back.

How different are the frames? Could the 2000 and up kit work on my 1999 frame?

The kits I've seen on ebay, made by La Rosa, look almost identical to the one I pictured above but still say for 2000 and up.

Here is a link to the "2000 and up" It looks really similar.

Hey POPO..check this out....

West-Eagle Solo Seat Spring Mounting Kit - Harley-Davidson Evo Softail 84-99 Quantity in Basket: None
Code: WEH2182
Price: $312.99

See the link. They used to be made by west eagle that I just found out closed the doors, but Easy Rider from Japan sells the same hardware kit and is sold from Motorcycle Accessories. A little pricey but one way to go. As I said I used the west eagle hardware and its a clean install. Hope this helps.

The battery cover looks nice too....I have the bracket from my bike... your welcome to it for free. The only difference I could make out is the 90 degree angle on the tabs at the bottom where it mounts to the frame... mine dosent have the lower tabs...your welcome to try it and make the mods to it. Looks like it might fit your 99 with some tweaking...I have the old catalog from w.e. and the brackets look the same..I could email you the pdf file if you want to take a look.

I'd love to have the sprung seat on my old Softail. What has kept me from going this route (aside from cost) is the increase in seat height which I'm not sure will work for me.

Unfortunately, it looks like seat mounting kits for first generation Softails are getting scarce, and expensive when you can find them.

Man that kit is a little pricey. I think I'll try to fab something up.

rello2 I sent you a PM on that part.
