Calling all Springers!
#112
YOU JINXED ME, RIP! Pulled into my garage Friday night after riding home from work for two hours in the pouring rain and the first thing I notice as I come around my bike is that the right hand side reflector on the forks has fallen off. Now I either gotta try and find a replacement or remove the left side one which as you know, I wasn't keen on doing. Oh well. Probably will have to go with removal since I don't think I will find a spare in time for a road trip that I am getting ready to take.
For those of you with gloss black forks; what did you use to get the glue off the forks? Were you able to spare the finish from any ill effects?

Not the best but here you go.
Picture after the 2010 10th Mountain "Mountain Thunder" Fallen Soldier Memorial day ride
Current pic before mods soon to be complete.
Different angle and cell phone pic so not the best.
Originally I got the sissy bar and touring passenger seat for my wife before Sturgis 2005 to make the ride better for her and also because we were riding together a lot more. Nowadays we do not ride together at all and it is time to go "Bare Bones" with a less is more approach.
Soon I will be going solo seat with luggage rack and whitewalls once my old tires hit their wear bars which is in about another 1,000 miles.
I am debating about putting a crashbar/engine guard on it and found one I like but still not sure. Trying to get more of a nostalgic look. Any tips or ideas?
I know a lot on here like the cholos. I do as well but I am very happy with the Samson slipons that I have and actually like the 2 into 1 on the right side of the bike. The one pipe on this side just looks naked to me. The two pipes frame the engine better to me anyway. The sound I have is just right and if I want to make noise I can or if I want to go low I can.

I'm surprised the front end isn't chrome. Was there a trim level for chrome or black?
Good looking bike though! Not sure about going more nostalgic, but there are plenty of guys here to ask about that.
I personaly am trying to find the balance between modern and old. Retro I guess you could call it. I don't know, too many labels. Bikes...
It's nice seeing all these Springers, I'll tell you that much!

As for a more nostalgic look, I think you're on the right track with WW's and taking the rear seat and backrest off. Fishtails (long cholo or not) would add to the nostalgic look as well. I have 29" fishtails on mine now, but I'm trying to decide if I want to step up to 33's or 36's. Mine are unbaffled, but I have old school "bolt and washer" baffles to provide backpressure and they did take out some of the loudness.
