Take a look at the clamp when you get it off. It's a metal clamp with a bolt. Nothing to wear out. I've reused mine multiple times and I've never had a leak in 4 years. But it's your money. That is until you give it to the dealer .

The hitemp RTV isn't a bad idea. I've had good results with it and without it. I used the Ultra Copper. Messy crap.

I don't use locktight on the clamps but it can't hurt. Just don't use the red. Use the blue.

Looks like the wheel has to come off for this install. Got the main bolt loose as well as the two clamb screws. There are two screws in the back but looks like I need the wheel off. Will just have the dealer do it unless there is a way to get them loose.

I know you have a 2012 Deluxe and I've only worked on a 2008 one but I'm going to go out on a limb and say No, you don't have to take the wheel off to put the slipons on. If you post a pic of your issue I can tell you what you need to do.

Do you have the HD saddlebags on your bike?

It's a 2012 Fatboy. There are 4 bolts in the back by the break caliber that hold the muffler on. What type of wrench do I need to get in there? Anyone know what size the rear bolts are? Thanks

Some great advice already provided here. They should bolt up just like the stock mufflers. I'll PM my cell phone just in case you need some assistance tonight.

Sorry, thought you had a Deluxe. FB has a similar setup. The manual says to loosen the flange locknut on carriage bolt. That's on the bottom of the lower pipe just under the tranny cover (six speed on it). Not sure why they say loosen this but it may give you some extra play so you can get at those 4 bolts easier.

You do not need the wheel off. You need a 3/8" wrench and patience. I did it on my 2012 deluxe. They are corse threaded and short, and I have big hands and yes it was a bitch but the wheel does not need to come off.

I was thinking a standard wrench would be better. I was trying to use a small socket set. I will grab a 3.8 wrench tomorrow. Might wear gloves to prevent finger prints.
